Emma's second Easter was a fun one. The weather was beautiful and this year she was actually able to participate in her first Easter Egg Hunt. Although she didn't really hunt after any eggs, she did enjoy pulling them out of and placing them back into her basket. The basket she used is Aunt Deanna's from her childhood. Once we made it home, Emma went through and shook each egg and listened for crackers to rattle around inside of them. If she heard the rattle, she brought the egg to Colleen or I so we could open it for her. Then she would reach in, grab the snacks and chow down. It was really very fun to see her eliminating the quiet eggs and finding the ones with snacks!

Emma is 1 year old!!
March 13th, 2010 came and went quickly and Emma is now over a year old. I know I mentioned this in the last past, but her first year has really flown by. Colleen and I are very proud of Emma; she is the center of our universe, and being her parents brings us more joy than we could have ever anticipated. I think my favorite thing about her is she comes up with a new laugh seemingly every week which absolutely cracks me up. One of her birthday presents was a swing set which she has been able to enjoy a few times. Now that the weather is starting to improve with the arrival of Spring, we are looking forward to playing with her outside.

Already 11 months old!
Emma is closing in on her first birthday. It is amazing how fast it goes by. I know everyone told us time would and will continue to fly by, but to go through the first year in such a blur has been an eye opening experience for Colleen and I. Emma is now walking pretty well without holding on to furniture, although her steps are limited to about 10 before she falls. Maybe she is just used to being across the living room in our little house in that amount of steps so that is all she is used to taking.
She is also developing a 'do it herself' approach when she is eating...at least when it isn't more convenient for her to let one of us feed her :-). She's a very busy little girl who dreads going to sleep. Our guess is she just doesn't want to miss out on any play time so she fights going to sleep every night. Each morning though she is full of smiles and laughter.

Emma update - long overdue
Well, it has been 4 months since I have posted any picture of Emma and she has really changed during that time. She is now a very efficient crawler, pulls herself up on anything she can, and has recently started standing up with help from chairs or couches. She's not quite ready to take her first steps alone, but if she's holding our hands or has a hold of her push carts, she walks as far as they will take her!
We also had our first Christmas (white Christmas even) as a family which was a wonderful day and she received many new toys a a beautiful step stool (see picture) with her name cut into removable blocks in the middle made by her great aunt and grandma Scherman.
